Fore Lake Campground - Ocala National Forest

Back in April I went to Fore Lake Campground located in the Ocala National Forest.

It was a quick over nighter to see how my little ca mping buddy would take to camping.

She was a champ!

But I honestly believe she would be happy

where ever I am.

There is no more a true,

unconditional love,

than the love of a dog!

Our campsite was number 8.

It was a nice little

shady spot that

seamed tranquil

enough.

Our problem was TICKS!

They were everywhere and they seemed to be falling from the trees.

I was on constant tick check...on me and my camping buddy.

I have camped in Florida all of my life and I have never seen that many ticks in one place. I really hope the Forest Service does some spraying. Because it really is a nice little place to camp.

In between tick checks, I wrestled up a nice steak with mushrooms and potatoes for supper. There's nothing better than cooking at a campsite in the open air.

Take a deep breath....can ya smell it? : )

( A special "Thank You" to one of my Best Friends For Life...... "Fancy"...... for my camping cup! )

Due to the high tick activity, I had pretty much decided to bear proof the campsite and turn in early.

The moon rose high and became our night light.

We were even fortunate enough to see some lightening bugs. I'd say it had been about 20 years since I had last seen lightening bugs. So it was a joy to watch them light up through out the camp. I circled one in the picture to the right. But it appears that they are not too photogenic. : )

The next morning, as the sun came up,

it was time for breakfast!!

Let me just say that breakfast is my most favorite meal while camping. The smell of bacon frying in camp is the best! I guess you could say that I am kind of like a kid on Christmas morning when it comes to waking up early for a camp breakfast!

I had really had enough with the ticks and we couldn't enjoy any relaxing around the campfire. So after breakfast was eaten and the dishes were cleaned, I decided to go ahead and pack up camp and head for home.

Like I said, this was just a quick over nighter. I would much rather take a long weekend or a week to really camp. So this one was just getting our paws wet!

I will be hitting the road with my big brother and his RV some time in July. We will be "glamping" but where we will be heading seems to be a pretty cool place. Stay tuned.......and until then, remember, "Adventure is out there"!
